  1. I have a bearing, but I can't identify it. What information does Messinger need?
    If it is a Messinger Bearing, please provide a part # or serial # that is etched on the bearing. If it is not, please provide the following: bearing boundary dimensions, bearing type (thrust roller, radial roller, etc.), the original manufacturer of the equipment that it is used in, the OEM's drawing # or part #, the application that the bearing is in, and any other information that you may have pertaining to the bearing and its application.
  2. If I order a custom bearing, what's the average turnaround time?
    Messinger Bearings' core business is dedicated to providing custom bearings to the marketplace in a timely and reasonable manner, and we have been doing so for over 90 years. The bearing size, bearing type, and quantity, and current shop capacity, greatly impact the delivery schedule that would be proposed. With that in mind, the following generic estimated delivery by bearing size could be expected on a quantity of one piece:
    • Bearing I.D. up to 12", delivery of approximately 14 to 16 weeks
    • From 12" to 30", delivery of approximately 18 to 22 weeks
    • From 30" to 60", delivery of approximately 24 to 28 weeks
    A customer's individual requirement may also impact the estimated delivery schedule outlined above. It would be best to contact the sales department with your delivery requirements.
  3. If I opt to repair a bearing rather than buy new, how much money will I save?
    The estimated savings on a repaired bearing can vary from 40% to 70% over the cost of a new bearing. The level of repair will dictate the amount of savings to expect. For instance, repairs that require a thorough cleaning and polishing of the bearing components could result in savings as much as 70% to the customer. A more detailed repair, consisting of regrinding raceways, supplying new rolling elements, and cleaning and polishing all over would result in savings of approximately 45% to 50%.
